Gentle Steps Child Care Inc.

"Helping the Children of the Future, One Step at a Time"

About Us

Sonia Dhudwal, Managing Director of Gentle Steps Child Care opened the child care centre as a fully licensed facility. Sonia completed the Early Childhood Education Diploma Program from Langara College, Vancouver, BC in 2006. Since then she has worked with infants, toddlers, preschoolers and children who require additional support. In 2008 Sonia helped open the Pemberton Children's Centre in Pemberton, BC and helped run the 3-5 program with fellow staff members. Sonia also holds a valid ECE License to Practice in BC, First Aid and Food Safe. She is constantly going to workshops to gain more knowledge in the field so she can bring it to her own daycare and share it with the children, families and community.

In 2012 Sonia began her new venture and opened up Gentle Steps Child Care in a new location! The center offers care for children 10 months to 5 years of age along with a preschool based curriculum for children between 3-5 years.

Gentle Steps Child Care's new location has a fully fenced yard with age appropriate, safe and fun outdoor equipment. Children will also have access to indoor activities that help build different developmental domains such as:Social, Physical, Intellectual, Cognitive & Emotional . Sonia believes children learn through play and guidance. Opportunity to solve problems, build social skills and explore the environment, help children build knowledge and skills they can use when they enter school or even in their adult life.

Sonia opened Gentle Steps Child Care to give parents a place they feel safe and comfortable dropping their children off; children a place to explore, learn and have fun and herself a place she can share all the experience and knowledge she has gained since working in the field.

As of January 2010 Sonia joined the Child Care Development & Advisory Committee for the City of Richmond. She is eager to use her passion for child care to help Richmond make Quality Child Care more accessible to the community & to help be the voice of families & Child Care providers.
